Fried Plantain & Desmonds At Granny’s House, 2022
Overview
Fried Plantain and Desmond’s is a series of mixed-media works that explores the richness of British Caribbean culture. Rooted in the symbolism of the post-war Windrush Generation and its descendants, these portraits weave together past and present, capturing contemporary life set against the wallpapered backdrop of the iconic West Indian living room.
Through this interplay of eras, the work reflects on migration, memory and the enduring influence of Caribbean heritage within Britain’s cultural fabric. Works have been included in numerous exhibitions including ING Discerning Eye, Casild Art and M&S Saatchi.
